Volumetric energy density is paramount in developing energy storage technologies for consumer electronics, where milimeters of additional space can translate into additional functionality. Battery swelling due to ageing is also a major challenge in such compact devices. StorageX faculty have a host of capabilities to address these key challenges, including advanced nanomaterials fabrication facilities to increase energy density, as well as advanced characterization techniques to study the reaction mechanisms behind gas generation and swelling.
