Industry Affiliates Program

Industry Engagement

The StorageX Affiliate Program allows a broad engagement with the initiative as a whole via an industry consortium model, in which companies gain facilitated engagement with Stanford faculty and students and connect with other interested companies in shared research-related programming such as annual symposia and focused workshops. Companies join by paying an annual affiliate membership fee. Affiliate-funded research is open to all members of the program and does not include IP terms. The site presentations and all information, data and results arising from such visitation interactions will be shared with all members and the public.

Membership Tiers

The StorageX Affiliate Program offers companies and institutions the following associated benefits, which vary depending upon membership level. Annual membership fees and associated benefits*:

Premier Annual Membership  
($500,000 minimum as affiliate funds)

  • Opportunity to join the StorageX Directors' Council
  • Opportunity to help set the research, education, and engagement strategy
  • Contribute to funding of broad research focus areas
  • Facilitated faculty engagements
  • Opportunity to send a Visiting Scholar to Stanford**
  • Research updates
  • Facilitated Stanford student engagement
  • Invitation to all StorageX conferences, workshops and education courses (for up to 5 invitees)

Foundational Annual Membership 
($250,00 minimum as affiliate funds)

  • Opportunity to communicate industry insights that help inform research, education, and engagement strategy
  • Contribute to funding of broad research focus areas
  • Facilitated faculty engagements
  • Opportunity to send a Visiting Scholar to Stanford**
  • Research updates
  • Facilitated Stanford student engagement
  • Invitation to all StorageX conferences, workshops, and education courses (for up to 5 invitees)

Affiliate Annual Membership 
($100,000 minimum as affiliate funds)

  • Research updates
  • Facilitated Stanford student engagement
  • Invitation to all StorageX conferences, workshops, and education courses.

Small Business or Nonprofit Annual Membership 
($25,000 minimum as affiliate funds)

This level is reserved for small businesses or nonprofits with fewer than or equal to 100 employees. These StorageX Initiative members receive invitations to all StorageX and Precourt Institute for Energy events.

Our consortium of faculty is led by Faculty Co-Directors Prof. Yi Cui, and Prof. Will Chueh, both of the Materials Science and Engineering department and Senior Fellows at the Precourt Institute for Energy, Stanford University.

*Membership in the StorageX Initiative Industrial Affiliates Program is subject to University Policies for Industry Affiliates Programs.
